Susie Jean (Russ) Sapp

Mrs. Susie Jean Russ Sapp, age 70, of Patterson, passed away Sunday evening (2/11/24) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following a short illness.

Born February 27, 1953, in Waycross, she was a daughter of the late James Robert and Imogene Thomas Russ. Living all her life in Pierce County, she was a 1971 graduate of Patterson High School. She was a longtime office secretary at Pierce County High School, retiring in 2016, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband, Mickey Dixon; son-in-law, Cameron Lee; a sister-in-law, Linda Watkins; and a brother-in-law, Eddie Teston.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Sapp of Patterson; 3 children, Lisa Lee of Mershon, Ken Dixon (wife Tara) of Patterson, and Larry Sapp of Patterson; 7 grandchildren, Logan Lee of Mershon, Morgan Dampier (husband Trevor) of Alma, Lauren Gilliard (husband Grant) of Nichols, Mickey Dixon of Patterson, Lizzie Dixon of Patterson, Anna Smart (husband Tristen) of Blackshear, and Emily Sapp (husband Lane) of Blackshear; 4 great grandchildren, Ava Bryson, Hayger Bryson, Kash Gilliard, and Rory Gilliard; cousin, Sammy and Carol Herrin of Virginia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Margaret Sapp of Richmond Hill, Wanda and Shelton Rigdon of Bristol, Carol and Donnie Watkins of Mershon, Bonnie and Bud Thornton of Patterson, Anita Teston of Patterson, Dexter Sapp of Blackshear, May and Ray Douberly of Patterson, W.T. and Susan Sapp of Blackshear, JoAnna and Timmy White of Patterson, and Jerry Watkins of Mershon; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service will take place Thursday (2/15/24) at 11 a.m. at the Offerman Cemetery with Rev. Edward Colley officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
