Mrs. Patricia O’Steen Myntti, age 75, of St. Cloud, FL (formerly of Blackshear) died Friday afternoon at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born October 16, 1942 in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Ben and Mamie Lou Mattox O’Steen. She was raised in Pierce County where she was a 1961 graduate of Blackshear High School.  After marriage to the late George Allan Myntti, she moved to California, Guam, and Milton, Florida during his military career. They then moved to Blackshear, and she worked for the United States Postal Service for 31 years, retiring as the Post Master of the Patterson Post Office.  Following retirement, she and her husband moved to Cleveland, GA. Following his passing, she returned to Blackshear before moving to St. Cloud earlier this year to be near her family.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear where she attended the Alathean Ladies Sunday School Class. She also served on the Bereavement Committee, the Storehouse Cooking Team, the Disaster Relief Team, and the Hands To Work Ministry.  She had also been a member of Tesnatee Baptist Church in Cleveland, Georgia and was a current member of Eastern Avenue Baptist Church in St. Cloud, Florida.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters, Dorothy O’Steen Baumeister, Louise O’Steen, Ruth Edward Thompson, Albert O’Steen, Ruby O’Steen, Thomas Clyde O’Steen, and Emery O’Steen.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Philip Pushic of Charleston, SC and Brenda and Nick Dispensa of St. Cloud, FL; 4 grandchildren, Wesley Myntti of Carrabelle, FL, Darby Pushic Stinnett (husband Bronson) of Waycross, Nicholas Pushic (wife Lindsay) of Charleston, SC, and Frank Dispensa of St. Cloud, FL; a great grandson, Braxton Fox Pushic of Charleston, SC; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Tuesday afternoon at 2 PM in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Thomas-Winn Cemetery in Pierce County.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.

Tammy, Brenda, and family,
My heart goes out to you in your time of grief. My family thought an awful lot of your mom. We loved her dearly, and she definitely brought a lot of smiles and laughter everywhere she went. I know she certainly was a great friend to Daddy and me. She will be missed by many. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I want to offer my condolences to the family and friends. It is a painful thing to lose a loved one in death, regardless of how long they have lived. Even Jesus gave way to tears when his friend Lazarus died (John 11:35). Our heavenly Father of tender mercies knows your pain. He never purposed his human family to have health issues, grow old, and die, but to live in perfect health and life forever. It is still his purpose (Psalms 37:11, 29). He calls death an enemy and promised to remove sickness, old age, and death__ 1 Corinthians 15:26 “The last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing"; Isaiah 33:24 And no resident will say: "I am sick"; Isaiah 35:5,6; Job 33:24,25 “Let his flesh become fresher than in youth; Let him return to the days of his youthful vigor.” Finally, He promised to undo the effect of death by bringing our loved ones in the memorial tombs back to life__ Isaiah 26:19 "Your dead will rise...Awake and shout joyfully you residents in the dust! ...the earth will let those powerless in death come to life.” God gives us this beautiful hope that he will soon resurrect our dead loved ones and we can see them again on a paradise earth. I hope these words give you all comfort.
