Mr. Johnny “Monroe” Johnson, age 67, of Patterson, died Sunday afternoon (10/21/18) at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah following an extended illness.

Born March 25, 1951 in Blackshear, he was a son of the late James William Johnson, Jr. and Maggie Lee Cason Johnson.  He lived most of his life in Patterson and retired in 2013 from Gilman Building Products as a saw filer following 34 years of service.

He was a member of University Boulevard Church of God in Waycross. He was a former member of River of Life (Brunel Street) Church of God and enjoyed cooking for the Pioneers for Christ Boys Club.  He was a hard worker, instilling a strong work ethic in his family. He also loved to fish, enjoyed being in the outdoors, and building things for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert Allen Johnson and James Junior Johnson; and his father in law, Eugene Clark.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Ann Clark Johnson of Patterson; two daughters, Christy Youmans (husband Stephen) and April Hodgman (husband Bill), both of Patterson; 3 grandchildren, Megan Youmans, Hunter Youmans, and Seth Hodgman, all of Patterson; 3 sisters, Bertha Hickox of Patterson, Mary Cumbie of Jacksonville, Fl, and Joy Redfern of Patterson; his mother in law, Minnie Clark of Patterson; 3 brothers-in-law, David Clark (wife Jona) of Offerman, Ralph Clark of Ladson, S.C., and Randy Clark (wife Ann) of Pigeon Forge, TN; special friends, Michael and Tracee Smith of Patterson; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Wednesday (10/24/18) at 2 PM at University Boulevard Church of God, 128 University Boulevard, Waycross, GA 31503. Burial will follow in the Patterson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening (10/23/18) from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
