Mr. Bechum Hilton Batchelor, age 90, of Patterson, passed away Wednesday afternoon (2/13/19) at the Wayne Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Born July 23, 1928 in Statesboro, GA, he was a son of the late Sebon Edward and Mary Etta Murray Batchelor. He had lived in many places in the United States including North Carolina and New Mexico, but lived many years in Oviedo, FL before moving to Pierce County in 2007. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was retired following a career with the Civil Service. 

He was a member of Offerman Baptist Church and attended the New Beginners Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Lou, Edna Lee, Christiana, Naomi, Rose, and Margie; and brothers, John Henry, Robert Neville, Thurmond, Howard, and Bill.

Survivors include his wife of 66 ½ years, JoAnn Hudson Batchelor of Patterson; his son, Rick Batchelor (wife Debbie) of Oviedo, FL; his daughter, Tina Batchelor of Jasper, GA; 6 grandchildren, Tonya Waters (husband Brian) of Oviedo, FL, Robert Bellamy (wife Brooke) of Oviedo, FL, Rachel Wilson (husband Bryan) of Winter Park, FL, Kelly Batchelor of Welborn, FL, Becki Strickland (husband Ed) of Patterson, and Cayd H. Batchelor of Jasper, GA; 12 great grandchildren, Taylor Waters , Joseph Bellamy, Blake Bellamy, and Maddie Bellamy, all of Oviedo, FL, Noel Rodriguez (husband Angel) and Holly Wilson, both of Austin, TX, Jordan Wilson and Joshua Wilson, both of Winter Park, FL, Brayden Allman and Trenton Allman, both of Welborn, FL, Jolin Strickland and Hudson Strickland, both of Patterson; 1 brother, Raymond Batchelor of Sorrento, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Saturday morning (2/16/19) at 11 AM at Offerman Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Offerman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
