Mrs. Elaine Vera Clark Hare, age 88, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday night (3/24/19) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.

Born November 18, 1930 in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late William Brantley and Exie Lee James Clark.  She had lived in Saint Marys and Pierce County for most of her life and was a housewife. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Hare; a sister, Anna Marie Dikins, and her 4 brothers, Harris Clark, Dale Clark, Dean Clark, and Ed Clark.

Survivors include her two sons, Stan Thornton (wife Rhonda) of St. Marys, GA  and Phillip Thornton of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren, Stacy McGill of West Palm Beach, FL, Grant Matthew Thornton (wife Celeste) of Blackshear, Leslie Thornton of St. Marys, Garrett Thornton (wife Telisa) of Blackshear, and Sara Thornton of Scuffletown; 4 great grandchildren, Tucker Nash Thornton, Skyler Thornton, Kaylina Thornton, and Dallin Thornton, all of Blackshear; a sister, Wanda Blalock of DeLand, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Memorialization is by cremation.

The family will have a private service at a later date.
