Archie Norris Jones, Sr.

Mr. Archie Norris Jones, Sr., age 86, of Blackshear passed away Sunday afternoon (11/21/21) at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah following an extended illness.

Born November 9, 1935 in Tampa, Florida, he was a son of the late Archie Harry and Hazel Agnes Thomas Jones. He was a veteran, having served with the United States Navy Reserves and moved to Pierce County in December 1979. He worked for CSX Transportation, retiring in 1995 as a conductor and was a member of Blackshear First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Archie Norris “Scooter” Jones, Jr.; and his 2 sisters, Harriet Sanz and Cozett Edwards.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Faye Jones of Blackshear; 3 sons, Timothy Jones (April) of Dixie Union, Neil Jones (wife Arlene) of Blackshear, and Jonathan Jones (Angel) of Blackshear; daughter-in-law, Linda Jones of Waycross; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Nolan Jones (wife Debbie) of Dover, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will take place Saturday morning (11/27/21) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Boatright and Rev. Edmund Thrift officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
