Benjamin Fredrick Dixon, Sr.

Mr. Benjamin Fredrick “Fred” Dixon, Sr., age 81, of Blackshear, passed away Monday afternoon (4/4/22) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born February 13, 1941 in Waycross, he was a son of the late Foster and Mozell Carter Dixon. He lived most of his life in Pierce County and worked several years as a boilermaker with Sam English Inc. of Richmond, Virginia. He then worked and retired from CSX Transportation as a system mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lee Padgett; a sister, Juliene Tyre; and 2 brothers, Donnie Dixon and Ronnie Dixon.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Melba Lee Dixon of Blackshear; 4 children, Donna Masterson (husband Paul) of Metter, DeAnna Dixon of Blackshear, Dawn Dixon of Texas, and Benji Dixon (wife Dixie) of Blackshear; 10 grandchildren, Amanda McLaurin (husband Gary) and Elizabeth Jackson (husband Robert), both of Virginia Beach, VA, Rachel Padgett of Blackshear, Jacob Parshall of Colorado, Shelby Dixon of Jacksonville, FL, BreAnna Moore (husband Jay) of Waycross, and Thomas Rawlins of Texas; and MaryAnn Westberry, Jake Westberry, and Abigail Westberry, all of Blackshear; 10 great grandchildren, Ty Taylor, Aliyah McGauley, Mara Ketchman, Lucas McLaurin, Zeplin Dixon, EverLeigh Moore, Jett Moore, Crystal Jackson, TC Jackson, and Rob Jackson; 3 sisters, Diane Mosley of Blackshear, Connie Davis of Waycross, and Winifred King of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday morning (4/7/22) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
