Mrs. Bertha Louise Biddy Allen, age 91, of Waycross, passed away Tuesday morning (12/6/22) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born July 26, 1931 in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Ollie L. and May Bird Biddy. She grew up in Taylorsville, North Carolina and then moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she met her husband, the late James W. Allen. They moved to Waycross with his job with the railroad in 1957 where she lived until passing. She had worked as a waitress at the Green Frog, Holiday Inn, and Hornsby’s House of Beef and was a member of Indian Mound Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother who raised her due to the passing of her mom, Mattie Caroline Fox Biddy; a son, Ray Allen; 2 sisters, Minnie Mae Rodgers and Margie Patton; and a brother, George Biddy.
Survivors include 3 children, Donald J. Allen, MaryAnn Allen, and Dale H. Allen, all of Waycross; 8 grandchildren, Margaret Davis, David Allen, Claire Griffin, Caitlin Hall, Christina Allen, James Curtis Allen, Joey Allen, and Abigail Allen; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Homer Biddy (wife Renee) of Taylorsville, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside funeral service will take place on Saturday (12/10/22) at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Cemetery with Rev. Clayton Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service.
