Mrs. Betty Renee Kibby Strickland, age 63, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday afternoon (1/26/25) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born April 15, 1961, in Big Spring, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Sidney Manuel Kibby and Emma Sue 'Peggy' McNew Threatt. She grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and lived in Pascagoula, Mississippi before moving to Pierce County in 1998. She had worked for many years as a clerk/cashier for Circle K, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Subway.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Talan Tanner; a great granddaughter, Heaven Long; a brother, Freddy Kibby; and a sister, Rachel Kibby.
Survivors include her husband, Steven McCoy Strickland of Blackshear; 5 children, Lee Long (Veronica) of Louisiana, Philip Long (Jessica) of Blackshear, Michael Tanner (Jessica) of Nahunta, Bobby Tanner (Ashley) of Hoboken, and Lisa Johnson (Branden) of Michigan; 11 grandchildren, Dakota Long (Mack), Trae Long, Angel Long, Hayleigh Cason (Hayden), Brylie Tanner, Logan Tanner, Jackson “J-Paul” Long, Harmonee Long, and Heather, Asha, and Alisha; 2 great grandchildren, Nevaeh and Paxton; bonus grandchild, Donny Ragland of Hoboken; mother-in-law, Alice Strickland of Blackshear; father-in-law, McCoy Strickland of Blackshear; sisters, Levita Porter of Pascagoula, MS, Sharon Neal of Texas, and Heather Irene Kibby of Mississippi; 2 brothers, Gary Kibby (Shelly) and Wayne Evans (Cindy), both of Pascagoula, MS; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will take place Thursday afternoon (1/30/25) at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
