Mr. Bobby Eugene Taylor, Sr., age 80, of Patterson, passed away Tuesday morning (6/30/20) in Wayne County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born March 31, 1940 in Pierce County, he was a son of the late Elder Elisha Fulton and Ivalee Crosby Taylor. He lived most of his life in Patterson and was a 1957 graduate of Patterson High School. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army, the United States Coast Guard, and retired from the Georgia Air National Guard 224th Joint Communications Support Squadron. He was also retired as a nuclear mechanic with Georgia Power at Plant Hatch.
Following retirement, he enjoyed delivering cars for several vehicle dealerships in Jesup and being a loving, full time Papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of Screven Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Emma Grace Johnson; and a brother, Nickey Taylor.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Simpson Taylor of Patterson; 4 children, Bobby Eugene Taylor, Jr. (wife Robin) of St. Marys, Brenda Mansfield of Patterson, Beverley Johnson (husband Michael) of Patterson, and Danny Taylor (wife Lori) of Blackshear; 8 grandchildren, David Taylor of Atlanta, Beth Cummings (husband Lance) of New Hampshire, Caleb Mansfield of San Antonio, TX, Taylor Smith of Patterson, Dalton Johnson (wife Nicole), Brin Taylor, and Kinley Taylor, all of Blackshear, and Matt Phillips of Kingsland; 6 great grandchildren, Roland and Sawyer Johnson of Blackshear, Jasidy and Harland Smith of Patterson, and Lilly and Clara Phillips of Kingsland; sister, Betty Johnson (husband Elder Alvin) of Patterson, brother, Billy Taylor (wife Janet) of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Friday (7/3/20) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Denison officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery in Patterson. Closing prayers will be conducted at the graveside service by Rev. Jerry Herndon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the service.
