Mrs. Brenda Joyce Peek James, age 81, of Blackshear, passed away Monday night (12/1/25) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born June 29, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Sally Johnson Peek. She and her family moved to Pierce County in 1972 and worked for The Blackshear Bank for many years, retiring as a bank officer.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackshear and had attended the Wesley Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joel Harvey James.
Survivors include her 2 children, Lance James (wife Pam) of Blackshear and Jennifer Strickland (husband Dan) of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren, Jessica Richardson (husband Justin), Jennifer Edwards (husband Blake), and J.T. James (wife Lyndssey), all of Blackshear, Danny Strickland (Ryan Hunter) of Atlanta, and Katie Kuick (husband Devin) of Charlotte, N.C.; 7 great grandchildren, Christian (Jordan) Edwards, Caden Edwards, Jackson Richardson, Logan Richardson, Emma Grace James, Micah James, Anna-Faith James; 1 great-great granddaughter, Olivia Ann Edwards; brother, Raymond Peek, Jr. (wife Judy) of Palmetto, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will take place Friday (12/5/25) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
