Mr. Brett Christopher McKnight, age 57, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday (7/19/25) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born September 30, 1967, in Moline, Illinois, he was a son of the late Charlie McKnight and Karen Williams McKnight. He had obtained an associate’s degree from Tarleton University in Texas prior to working as a construction supervisor for over 35 years. He was a member of the Old Still Hunting Club in Jesup and the Georgia Hunting and Fishing Federation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Bailey McKnight; his son, Bryce McKnight; and an infant grandson, Lawson Kye Kennedy McKnight.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Cherie Herrera of Blackshear; a brother, Brud McKnight of Blackshear; his grandson, Hagen Weinburg of Blackshear; 3 stepchildren, Amanda Herrera and Brandon Herrera, both of Atlanta; and Ariana Chester (Seth) of Micanopy, Florida; Hagen’s father, Robert Weinburg of Blackshear; his ex-wife, Misty Clark of Bryceville, Florida; two aunts, Barb and Mary of Aledo, IL; dear family friends, Scotty and Lorinda Hartley of Screven; and several other relatives.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Old Still Hunting Club, 101 Flowers Break, Jesup, Ga 31546 with a “dog turn out” beginning at 7 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Heavenly Acres Arena, 4761 Highway 203, Screven, GA 31560 with Dr. Bill Young officiating.
