Bruce Friedrichs Obituary

Mr. Bruce Robert Friedrichs, age 62, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday evening (3/19/19) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.

Born August 6, 1956 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, he was a son of the late Robert Bruce and Ione Jacobs Friedrichs.  He was retired as a Staff Sergeant (SSG) following 20 years of service in the United States Army. He joined at age 16 during the Vietnam Era and had served in Desert Storm in 1991. His platoon was one of the first to be deployed and one of the last to return. He had also served tours in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. He and his family lived in Fort Stewart where he was stationed before moving to Blackshear in 2000.  He was a member of the local VFW.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Friedrichs.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Carol Estelle Friedrichs of Blackshear; 3 daughters, Amber Ione Friedrichs, Dorothy Elizabeth Friedrichs, and Mary Elizabeth Friedrichs, all of Kennesaw, GA; 1 son, Robert John Friedrichs of Blackshear; 2 sisters, Diane Schneider (husband Dave) and Terry Carpenter (husband Howard), both of Sheboygan, WI; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Memorialization is by cremation.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
