Mrs. Carolyn Ann Sweat Huggins, age 83, of Alma, passed away early Wednesday morning (8/12/2026) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born May 10, 1943, in Pierce County, she was a daughter of the late Archie Rudolph and Betty Lee Sweat. She was a graduate of Blackshear High School and had attended Valdosta State University and obtained a degree in music from Waycross College. She lived for several years in Marietta where she worked for Lockheed Martin before returning to Pierce County where she owned New Images Fitness Center but was retired as a clerk for CSX Transportation. Following retirement, she and her husband owned and operated Andrew’s Café in Waycross.
A longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church, she had been active in Sunday school and the choir and served as the church secretary for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chester Huggins; and 3 sisters, Virginia Sweat Lewis, Everlyn Sweat Smith, and Iris Jean Sweat Mixon.
Survivors include her 3 children, Renee Clough Choate, Andrew Lee Clough III (wife Edurne), and Archie Clough (wife Mysti), all of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren, Jackson Clough (wife Emily), Nathaniel Choate, Elena Clough, Ane Clough, and Kate Clough; her black lab, Bruce; a sister, Sandra Sweat Crews (husband Lawton) of Waycross; 2 stepchildren, Robin Peters and Ray Huggins; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside funeral service will take place Thursday morning (8/13/26) at 11 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Tuttle officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
