Mr. Carroll Larry Strickland, 76, of Blackshear, passed away Monday afternoon (5/1/2023) at the Harborview Pierce County following an extended illness.
Born November 21, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was a son of the late Carroll Levell and Alma Louise Shuman Strickland. He lived most of his life in Pierce County and was a 1964 graduate of Blackshear High School. He retired from CSX Transportation as a machinist.
He was a former member of the Blackshear Jaycees, the Lakeview Golf and Country Club, and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Eugene Strickland and Eddie Strickland; and a nephew, Scott Strickland.
Survivors include 2 children, Holly Corum (husband Shane) of Waynesboro and Lawrence Strickland (wife Kellee) of Acworth; 3 grandchildren, Lane Corum, McKenzie Strickland, and Tate Strickland; 2 sisters, Sherion Mercer and Patty McIntosh (husband Dan), both of Blackshear; 2 brothers, Bobby Strickland (wife Teresa) of Blackshear and Tony Strickland of Waycross; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Strickland Shelton and Joy Strickland O’Gorman, both of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will take place Thursday morning (5/4/2023) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
