Charles Bob Jernigan, Sr.

Mr. Charles Bob Jernigan, Sr., age 79, of Patterson, passed away Friday morning (4/12/2024) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born September 5, 1944, in Blackshear, he was a son of the late Mary Jernigan Scott. He grew up in Pierce County and moved to Punta Gorda, Florida in 1969 where he was a longtime self-employed mason. He returned to Patterson in 1995.

He was a former member of the Punta Gorda Masonic Lodge #115.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, George Jernigan; his grandparents who raised him, George and Susie Lucas; and a sister, Laura Jernigan.

Survivors include 4 children, Charles B. Jernigan, Jr. (wife Eletia) of Patterson, Tammie Jernigan Stroman of Punta Gorda, FL, Sheldon Jernigan (wife Tonia) of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Alicia Schwandt (husband Corey) of Washington; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; mothers of his children, Lula Jernigan of Patterson and Hyacinth Jernigan of Port Charlotte, FL; 3 siblings, Johnny Jernigan, Mae Baity, and Linda Morales, all of Philadelphia; special friends, Johnny and Haddie Platt of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Eula Pratt of Chicago, IL, and Doris Teasley of N. Augusta, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
