Mrs. Daisy "Skipper" Alfreda Cox Luke, age 80, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday afternoon (1/8/25) at Memorial Satilla Health following an extended illness.
Born March 2, 1944, in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Shular and Ellie Hendley Cox. Living most of her life in Pierce County, she retired as a truck driver and owner/operator for Luke Trucking. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Shade Luke; a sister, Jeannette Aspinwall; and a brother, Shannon Cox.
Survivors include her 2 children, Patricia Carter of North Carolina and Berry Gulley (wife Michelle) of Blair, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren, Justin, Gina (Kelly), Asa, Mercedes, Jacquelyn, Taylor, and Brandi; several great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Elaine Branch (husband Jimmy) and Sally Joe Cox, all of Brunswick; a brother, Shular Cox (wife Kathy) of Brunswick; cousins, Denise and Greg Miller of Darien; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place on Monday afternoon (1/13/25) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service.
