Daniel Boatright

Mr. Jessie Daniel Boatright, age 74, of Blackshear, passed away early Thursday morning (7/23/20) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.

Born March 12, 1946 in Alma, Georgia, he was the youngest son of the late Robert Fulton and Alma Sims Boatright. He had lived most of his life in Pierce County and had worked many years driving a truck for Cauley’s Meat Packing Plant in Waycross and as a painter. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Janice Marie Boatright, Mary Lee Boatright Lovell Floyd, and Eula Boatright Murray; and 5 brothers, Earl Boatright, Purdom Boatright, Hollis Boatright, Paul Boatright, and Robert Fulton Boatright.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Spivey Boatright of Hazlehurst; 8 children, Sandy Gill (husband Danny) of Blackshear, Shawn Boatright (wife Denise) of Blackshear, Stan Kirkland of Millwood, Stacey Kirkland of Savannah, Shane Kirkland of Coffee County, Steve Boatright of Blackshear, Spence Boatright (wife Brenda) of Offerman, and Stephanie Boatright of Hazlehurst; 20 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Dale O’Steen of Blackshear, Shirley Walker of Waycross, Barbara Gilliard (husband Jerry) of Blackshear, and Patricia Phillips (husband Rick) of Waycross; a brother, Rab Boatright (wife Anne) of Patterson; 4 sisters-in-law, Sybil Boatright and Pearl Boatright, both of Blackshear, Laquita Boatright of Patterson, and Barbara Boatright of Waycross; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside funeral service will take place Saturday morning (7/25/20) at 10 a.m. at Waters Cemetery in Blackshear.  The family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service.
