Mrs. Donna Maria Ostrom Handel, age 77, of Blackshear, passed away early Saturday morning (9/4/21) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born November 22, 1943 in New Haven, Connecticut, she was a daughter of the late John Kenneth and Marie Ann Sandillo Ostrom. She was raised in Connecticut before moving to Ormond Beach, Florida where she lived for 36 years. She retired as a retail clerk for Walmart and moved to Pierce County in 2018. She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Victor Handel of Blackshear; 4 children, Debra Lee Crowell of Blackshear, Donna Maria Grande (husband Mark) of Northford, CT, Gerald Edward Handel, Jr. of New Haven, CT, and Darcy Handel of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, William Crowell, Jr., Sarah Crowell, Mark James Grande, Jr., Deanna Marie Grande, Rebecca Wasdin, and Elizabeth Wasdin; several great grandchildren; sister, Bernadette Hart of Palm Coast, FL; and several other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Maria Handel; and her brother, John Kenneth Ostrom, Jr.
A celebration of life service will take place Wednesday (9/8/21) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
