Mrs. Doris Lucille Feuchtenberger Merritt, age 85, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday morning (7/16/20) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born March 18, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Hilda Reinhardt Feuchtenberger. She lived in Maryland until the mid 1970’s when she moved to Pierce County. She had been a manager and waitress, working at Oak Plaza, Captain Joe’s, and Pizza Hut. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Lanier Merritt; a granddaughter, Julissa Hall; her sister, Gloria Sewell; and her mother-in-law, Lillian Merritt.
Survivors include her two daughters, Doris Williams of Blackshear and Christine Hall of Dixie Union; 2 grandchildren, Samuel Williams of Blackshear and Kit Hall of Waycross; 3 great grandchildren, Karmin Self, Phoenix Self, and Ernest Self, all of Blackshear; and several other relatives.
A memorial service will take place Tuesday morning (7/21/20) at 9 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Golden officiating.
Burial will follow in the Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery in Tattnall County.
