Ms. Doris Elizabeth Aldridge Rountree, age 85, of Patterson, passed away Friday morning (9/6/2024) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House following a short illness.
Born July 28, 1939, in Blackshear, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Isham Aldridge, Jr. and America Linda Gill Aldridge. Living all her life in Pierce County, she was a 1958 graduate of Blackshear High School. She retired from the Pierce County Board of Education following a long career as a paraprofessional, having worked at Ware Street Elementary School, Blackshear Elementary School, and Patterson Elementary School.
She was a member of Patterson Baptist Church and attended the Grace Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Aubrey Rountree; 2 sisters, Cathleen Aldridge Page and Ruthie Sapp; and 6 brothers, Isham Leroy Aldridge, William Robert Aldridge, Clarence Aldridge, Lewis Allen Aldridge, Harvey Lloyd Aldridge, and Grady Eugene Aldridge.
Survivors include her son, Michael Harold Rountree (Tina King) of Blackshear; daughter, Mary Rountree Lee (husband Scott) of Patterson; 4 grandchildren, Allen Harold Rountree of Savannah, Brandi Elizabeth R. Martin (husband Patrick) of Jesup, Joshua Lee (wife Erin) of Clyo, GA, and Ashley Davis (husband Kyle) of Macon; 5 great grandchildren, Piper and Freya Martin, Landon Edwards, Grayson Lee, and Edward Davis; 2 brothers, James Lonnie Aldridge (wife Vera) of Jacksonville, FL and Walter Ander Aldridge of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Monday morning (9/9/24) at 11 a.m. at Patterson Baptist Church with Rev. Vance Colley officiating. Burial will follow at Laura Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
