Mr. Earl Wayne Blair, age 78, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning (8/9/22) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born June 16, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida, he was a son of the late John Edward and Sara Leona Hartley Blair. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and served as a medic in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He also served with the United States Army Reserve. He then worked as a welder, working for Whitley Steel, and retiring from Gate Concrete in Jacksonville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Varnadore Blair; a grandson, Cody Wayne Blair; and all his brothers and sisters, Rudolph Blair, Raymond Blair, Mildred Baty, Myrtle Blair, Louise Brasher, and Patricia Larson.
Survivors include his three children, Robert L. Blair, John Michael Blair, and Elizabeth Bradham (husband John Jr.), all of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, John Michael Blair, Jr., Ashley Nicole Blair, and Joshua Thomas Blair, all of Jacksonville, Allyson Blair, Aaron Donald Blair, and Matthew Bradham, all of Blackshear; 1 great grandson, Hayden Thigpen of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Saturday morning (8/13/22) at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Jordan Cemetery in Ware County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening (8/12/22) from 6-8 p.m.
