Earnestine Boatright Obituary

Mrs. Earnestine Combs Boatright, age 99, of Blackshear, passed away Monday afternoon (3/10/2025) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.

Born October 7, 1925, in Waycross, she was a daughter of the late Archie Hamilton and Ada Bell Copeland Combs. She lived all her life in Ware and Pierce Counties and had been a longtime housewife and helped her husband at their family business, Boatright’s Service Station.

She was a longtime member of the Blackshear Church of God, had attended Sunday School for many years, and was currently the oldest member.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Claude Boatright; infant son, Etheridge Boatright; a great-great granddaughter, Aniya Jennell; grandson-in-law, George Music, Jr.; 2 sisters, Vesta Anderson and Hazel Thorne; 3 brothers, Norman Combs, Spencer Combs, and Kenneth Combs; and a special niece, Ginger Coffee.

Survivors include her daughter, Claudette Durrance of Blackshear; 2 grandchildren, Clayton Durrance (wife Melinda) of Alabama and Sabrina Music of Waycross; 3 great grandchildren, Clay Durrance of Waycross, Dewayne Durrance of Patterson, and Rance Music (fiancé Layce) of Waycross; 4 great grandchildren, Abbie Durrance, Layton Durrance, Ella Durrance, and Destiny Durrance; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ethel Mae Combs of Augusta, Vonnis and Stanley Boatright of Brunswick; and Billy Boatright of Waycross; 2 special great nieces, Shelly Howard (husband Hendry) and Kelly Crawford (husband Will), both of Blackshear; a special great-great niece, KellyAnn Howard of Blackshear; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Thursday morning (3/13/25) at 11 a.m. at Blackshear Church of God. Burial will follow in the Blackshear City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening (3/12/25) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will be gathering at the home of Kelly and Will Crawford.
