Mr. Edmond Franklin Jacobs, age 84, passed away late Friday night (12/5/25) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.
He was born April 24, 1941, in Hoboken, he was the son of Leon Audrey and Amy Griffin Jacobs. He was a 1959 graduate of Hoboken High School, attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton and the University of Georgia studying Agricultural Engineering. He left the university before completing his degree to assume duties on the family farm which included the growing of tobacco, corn, hay, cattle, and egg production. He was a true farmer all his life and loved driving his tractor and tending the cattle.
Edmond was a member of the FSA Committee for Brantley County and Charlton County from January 1977-1980, the Brantley County ASC Committee from Jan 1993-1996, and a longtime member of the Brantley County Farm Bureau. He received the Brantley County Farmer of the Year Award in 2005.
An active member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, he joined in 1979 and made sure his family received the spiritual training that they needed from growth and development. He was ordained a deacon in May 1984 and taught Sunday school for many years.
Edmond and Susie instilled in their children basic family values: a belief in God, love and respect for family, love of learning and a good work ethic. Edmond taught his sons to work on the farm and was persistent and consistent in his expectations in which his boys responded well to their father’s teachings.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Davis Jacobs Sr. and grandparents, George Ruel and Minnie Davis Griffin and Edmund F. and Janie Thomas Jacobs.
