Mrs. Edna Faith Garner Hoaglin, age 90, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday night (4/10/22) at her residence following a sudden illness.
Born April 25, 1931 in Rockport, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Leslie E. and Emily Laveta Fuerestenau Garner. She grew up in Rockport and following marriage, she lived in several states before moving to Pleasant Hill, Illinois for 30 years. They moved to Chatham, Illinois in 1986 and then to Pierce County in 2001. She had worked at the garment factory in Pleasant Hill, as a bookkeeper for her father’s lumber yard, and helped her husband operate Hoaglin and Hoaglin Tire for 26 years as the bookkeeper.
Following their relocation to Pierce County, she was the longtime biscuit maker for McDonalds in Blackshear, retiring in 2020.
She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Merlin Dean Hoaglin; son, Edward Dean Hoaglin; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Smith and Jeanette Doran.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Crawford (husband Dan) of Blackshear; daughter-in-law, Kathi Hoaglin-Gore (husband Mal) of Elko, GA; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Crawford (wife Jennifer) of Chatham, IL, Jay Crawford (wife Marcia) of Hamburg, NY, Rachel Streat (husband Brandon) of Blackshear, and Doug Hoaglin (wife Sarah) of Blackshear; 12 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Shirley Morrow of St. Charles, MO and Brenda Wankel (husband Byron) of Jacksonville, IL; brother, Wayne Garner of Pittsfield, IL; her faithful companion, Little Bit; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday (4/16/22) at 11 a.m. at Rehobeth Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Jordan officiating.
