Mr. Edward Ernest Turk, age 98, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday afternoon (2/20/2024) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born November 8, 1925, in Hopelawn, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ethel Zoldie Turk. He lived many years in New Jersey before moving to Blackshear with his wife in the early 1980’s. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army and was retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waycross.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Turk; 2 brothers, Dr. Robert Turk and Paul Turk; and 4 sisters, Margaret Leone, Ethel Tobias, Helen Doyle, and Madaline Jordan.
Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Marie Joyce Turk of Blackshear; a son, Dr. Eric Turk of Townsend, Montana; a daughter-in-law, Gail Turk of Victoria, British Columbia; 2 grandsons, Michael Turk of California and Joseph Turk of Virginia Beach, VA; 2 great granddaughters, Sophie Turk and Zoey Turk; a brother, Joseph Turk of New Jersey; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Memorialization will be by cremation. Inurnment will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a future date.
