Mr. Edsel Ervin Collins, age 70, of Blackshear, passed away Monday afternoon (9/7/20) at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas following an extended illness.
Born February 16, 1950, he was a son of the late William Edsel Collins and Vera Mae Smith Deen. He lived most of his life in Pierce County and had worked as a conductor at CSX Transportation in Waycross but was retired as a long time self-employed truck driver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Thornton Collins; a step-son, Edward Aspinwall; and a grandson, Anthony Aspinwall.
Survivors include his step-children, Susie Dixon (husband Ronnie) of Blackshear, Dr. Frankie Aspinwall (wife Dr. Marilyn) of St, Marys, GA and Dr. Neil Aspinwall (wife Teresa) of Lake Charles, LA; 9 grandchildren, J.R. Aspinwall (wife Leslie), Frannie Rector (husband Josh), Ashlee Gonzalez (husband Brian), Taylor Aspinwall (wife Danielle), Melissa Montgomery (husband Michael), Brittney Oliver (husband James), Jake Aspinwall, Marcus Kuja (wife Sydney), and Marshall Aspinwall; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; special friend, Tabatha Boyd of Blackshear; two brothers, Clyde Collins of Gray, GA and Harry Patterson of Alma; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Memorialization is by cremation.
