Mrs. Esther Flores Chavez Wolfe, age 79, of Blackshear, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning (5/27/23) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born March 27, 1944, in Corcoran, California, she was a daughter of the late Casimire Ruiz and Antonia Flores Chavez. She moved from California to Pierce County in 1972 and worked many years and retired as a paraprofessional from Ware County High School.
She was a longtime active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School, served in many ministries including the Saints of Joy, Baptismal Committee, Van Ministry, as a Greeter, and the Kitchen Committee for Champ Camp. She also attended almost every Bible study offered and had served with the Spanish Mission and as part of a church plant in Brantley County. She truly and faithfully loved her Lord and Savior.
She had been a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and a true friend to many. She was also a regular customer who enjoyed eating and fellowshipping with all at the Huddle House.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Franklin Wolfe, Jr.; a sister, Aurora Alvidres; and a brother and a sister-in-law, Mercedes and Rosalia Horta.
Survivors include her three sons, Archie Franklin Wolfe, III (Tammy), Casey Wolfe (April), and Luke Wolfe (Jessica), all of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, Kody Wolfe, Macy Wolfe, Eli Wolfe, Aggie Wolfe, Matthew Wolfe, and Noah Wolfe; 4 sisters, Inez Salgado, Flora Horta, and Isabel Carkhuff, all of California, and Tonie Marie Peterson (husband Lloyd) of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and other relatives.
A memorial service will take place Monday evening (5/29/23) at 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Stone and Rev. Richard Golden officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
