Eva Mae (Aldrich) Ganey

Mrs. Eva Mae Aldrich Ganey, age 88, of Patterson, passed away Wednesday morning (12/11/19) at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities in Waycross following an extended illness.

Born August 1, 1931 in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Viola Head Aldrich.  She lived all of her life in Pierce County and had worked many years at Larry’s Pharmacy in Waycross, as a waitress at Shoney’s in Waycross, and had also been a loving housewife.  She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Riley Ganey, Sr.; a son, John Riley Ganey, Jr.; three daughters, Karen Ganey, Mary Ann Ganey Thomas, and Diana Ganey Vick; and her sister, Edith Aldrich Thomas.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Anderson and Linda Kay Lively (husband Terry), both of Blackshear; a son, David Gary Ganey, Sr. (wife Dolly) of Blackshear; a daughter-in-law, Kim Ganey of Blackshear; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place on Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Blackshear City Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
