Evelyn (Guest) Banks

Mrs. Evelyn Guest Banks, age 84, of Blackshear, passed away early Wednesday morning (9/27/23) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.

Born October 15, 1938, in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Guest and Susie Davis Guest Roberts.  She lived all her life in Pierce County and was retired as a seamstress, having worked for Oxford Industries, Ruben Brothers, and Matt’s Jackets. 

She had been a longtime member of Rehobeth Baptist Church but was currently a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. She had worked in the nursery at both churches and attended the Sr. Adult Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Keller Roberts; 1 great grandchild, Logan Branson; and her siblings, Jackie Guest, Edgar Guest, and Edna Faye Guest.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Wilton Banks of Blackshear; 3 daughters, Cindi Crawford (husband Edwin) of Dixie Union, Donna Melton (husband Tommy) of Blackshear, Karen Carter of Blackshear; 8 grandchildren, Chris O’Neal (wife Nealie), Dustin O’Neal (wife Meg), Jamie Justice (wife Bethany), Kyle Melton (wife Robyn), Brandy Russell (husband Julian), Amber Burney, Ashley Taylor, Kellyn Williams (husband Dustin); 18 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild expected soon; a sister-in-law, Gloria Guest of Fernandina Beach, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Friday morning (9/29/23) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the service.
