Mrs. Lois Evon Roundtree Dixon, age 77, of Patterson, passed away Saturday morning (8/28/21) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born September 12, 1943 in Patterson, she was a daughter of the late Herbert R. and Cassie Bowman Roundtree. She was a 1961 graduate of Patterson High School and had attended classes at Florida Baptist Theological College in Graceville, FL. She also obtained her certification as an Accredited Records Technician (ART). She was a dedicated pastor’s wife and had worked alongside him as they pastored in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Sale City, GA, Ellabell, GA, Alma, GA, Pavo, GA, and in Blackshear and Patterson. While living in those areas, she had worked as the Director of Medical Records for Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville and at the Bacon County Hospital in Alma. She had also worked for the Waycross Hospital and Memorial Hospital in Savannah.
She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Patterson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Pastor Marshall Lee Dixon; four sisters, Wynell Green, Nada Harris, Faye Harris, and Lucille Dixon Tippins; and 4 brothers, Gilbert Roundtree, Kenneth Roundtree, Harold Roundtree, Felton Roundtree.
Survivors include her three children, Tammie Cason (husband Donnie), Lisa Gill (husband Tony) and Tim Dixon, all of Patterson; grandchildren, Nate Cason, Allen Dixon, Joseph Dixon, and Marsha Gill, all of Patterson and Shane Dixon of Maine; a special friend who was like her granddaughter, Shanna Chesser of Patterson; two sisters, Vera Braddock of Brunswick and Katherine Hickox (husband Claude) of Blackshear; one brother, Junior Roundtree (wife Frances) of Patterson; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Mary Gill (husband Floyd) of Patterson; Ernestine Dixon of Patterson, J. L. “Jake” Dixon (wife Voncille) of Blackshear, and Tom Dixon (wife Patricia) of Leesburg, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Wednesday afternoon (9/1/21) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Laura Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
