Gregory Bagley Obituary

Mr. Gregory Scott Bagley, age 56, of Blackshear, passed away Friday evening (1/3/20) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born October 3, 1963 in Jacksonville, Florida, he was a son of the late Larry Bagley and Beatrice Guy Davis. He grew up in Waycross and Hoboken and was a 1981 graduate of Brantley County High School. He had lived in Pierce County for the past 28 years. He worked in the maintenance department at Holiday Inn for a few years but started B&B Contractors almost 30 years ago.

He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Sons of the American Legion.  He had been a past member of the BPOE (Elks Lodge) in Waycross.  He also enjoyed fellowshipping as a part of the McDonald’s Coffee Club and attending the “Oak Plaza Choir Practice” in the evenings. 

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working on his classic car, spending time with his friends and family, and working.  He enjoyed being able to build and was considered a perfectionist at his trade.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rev. Marvin and Bernice Guy.

Survivors include his daughter, Shona Breanna Deal (husband Tyler) of Blackshear; son, Taylor James Bagley (wife Kalley) of Bristol; 2 granddaughters, Gracie and Aurora Deal of Blackshear; mother and step-father, Bea and Glenn Davis of Waycross; brother and sisters, Kathy Thrift of Hickox, Darlene Ruiz (Leo) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, David Bagley of Pensacola, FL, and Lisa Kersey (Rocky) of Atkinson; nieces and nephews, Tammy Hicks (Josh) of Tampa, FL, Mel Eason of Bristol, Keeli Trout (Matt), Tibbi Ruiz, and Mario Ruiz, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Skylar Kersey of Atkinson, and Megan Yarborough (Bradley) of Blackshear; aunts and uncles, Mary Ann Anderson (Wayne) of Waycross, Billy Guy (Brenda) of Adairsville, GA, Rev. James Guy (Sandra) of Dallas, GA, Rev. Johnny Guy (Brenda) of Homerville, Travis Guy of Waycross, and Tony Guy of Waycross; 3 special friends, Howard Poole of Vermont, Jim Echols of Patterson, and Jeff Strickland of Blackshear; his special “4 legged wife”, Buttercup; and several other relatives.

A Home-going service will take place Monday afternoon at 3 PM in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mars Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 1-3 PM.
