Mr. Archie “Jack” Strickland, age 89, of Bristol, passed away Wednesday morning (4/13/22) at his residence surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.
Born May 2, 1932 in Bristol, he was a son of the late Archie and Josie Smith Strickland. He lived all of his life in Pierce County and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was the longtime owner and operator of Strickland Farms and a member of Bristol Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Strickland; an infant granddaughter, Shanna Strickland; two sisters, Maxine Whitt and Mary Nell “Sally” Strickland; and two brothers, Ruben Lee "R.L." Strickland and Raygene “Bull” Strickland.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Molly Tippins Strickland of Bristol; 2 children, Randy Strickland (wife Ann) of Mershon and Kathy Stallings (husband Thomas) of Jackson, GA; 8 grandchildren, Trent Strickland (Ashton Williamson Poole) of Mershon, Samantha Chaney (husband J.J) of Blackshear, Katie Strickland (Joel Roberson) of Blackshear, Brittany Carter (husband Chad) of Blackshear, Thomas Stephens of Bristol, Dixie Stephens (Daniel Teabo) of Bristol, Kelli Altman (husband Garrett) of Alma, and Taylor Wilson of Ohio; 10 great grandchildren, Adalyn Poole, Hance Strickland, Paizley Carter, Stella Strickland, Kayse Carter, Jack Chaney IV, Emyrson Chaney, Graylyn Altman, Annalee Altman, Liza Altman, and Finn Altman; 2 extended grandchildren, Bobby Sapp and Becky Clark, both of Blackshear; 2 sisters-in-law, Beulah Strickland and Naomi Strickland, both of Blackshear; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Friday (4/15/22) at 3 p.m. at Bristol Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Bristol Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm.
