Mr. James “Jimmy” “J.W.” Willard Sauls, age 83, of Mershon, died Saturday morning (9/21/24) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born June 16, 1941, in Blackshear, Georgia, he was a son of the late William Thomas Sauls, Sr. and Ruby Mary Westberry Sauls. He lived in Brantley County for many years until moving back to Pierce County in 1999.
Jimmy was a remarkable person with a rich and fulfilling life. He was a carpenter and builder by trade, and working with his hands gave him a great sense of accomplishment. He had a love for nature and the outdoors, and a passion for gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was a loving father and grandfather and created many cherished memories with his family.
Jimmy was a truly special person who touched many lives. His family, including his children and grandchildren, will miss him deeply. Friends, neighbors, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing him will also feel his absence.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Sauls; his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Sauls; a brother, William Thomas Sauls, Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Thelma Sauls.
Survivors include 6 children, Curtis Sauls (wife Tish) of Mershon, Bill Sauls (wife Debbie) of Offerman, Vince Price (wife Connie) of Adrian, Lori Hudson (husband Dale) of Wrightsville, Leonard Trotter (wife Wendy) of Jacksonville, FL, and Susan Kitchens (husband Michael) of Wrightsville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Mary Ann Sauls Strickland of Eastman; and 2 brothers, Robert Sauls (wife Louise) and Donnie Sauls (wife Betty Ann), both of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
