Mr. James Monroe “Buddy” Floyd, age 87, of Blackshear, passed away Friday morning (11/1/2024) at Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.
Born December 25, 1936, in Alma, he was a son of Brinson and Myrtle Keener Floyd. He lived most of his life in Bacon County but has lived for the past 15 years in Pierce County. He retired in 2005 from Waycross Molding (Ace Rubber) following a 40-year career.
He attended Waycross Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed being active daily with the Pierce County Senior Center. He also enjoyed music and playing his harmonica.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Diane Taylor Floyd; and a brother, William “Bill” Floyd.
Survivors include his daughter, Hulene Hardenbrook (husband Tony) of Waycross; 2 grandsons, Al Jacobs (wife Jennifer) of Waycross and Daniel Jacobs of Jesup; 2 great grandchildren, Cory Jacobs and Ashlyn Jacobs; 1 brother, L.M. Floyd of Thompson, GA; sister, Shirley Moore of Waycross; special sister-in-law, Doris Lewis of Alma; grandpups, Bobby and Nila; all his Pierce County Senior Center friends; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Tuesday afternoon (11/5/24) at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening (11/4/24) from 6-8 p.m.
