Mrs. Janice Maxine Lloyd Hendrix, age 81, of Blackshear, passed away early Tuesday morning (4/16/2024) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.
Born May 25, 1942, in Waycross, Georgia, she was one of 13 children of the late Madison Henry and Nora Louise Popham Lloyd. Having grown up in Waycross, she graduated from Ware County High School in 1961. She had lived in Texas, Illinois and Conyers, GA before moving to Pierce County in 2004. Throughout her life, she had worked at Spatola Shoe Factory and in the medical field for several doctor’s offices for 20 years but retired from Wal-Mart as a Demonstration Manager.
She was a member of Hacklebarney Baptist Church and had attended the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Frances Rhodenberry, Dorothy Dekle, Lucille Petty, Marion Music, Susan Hendrix, and Sandra Henderson; and 4 brothers, Vernon Lloyd, David Lloyd, Madison Lloyd, Jr., and Ray Lloyd, Sr.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Dean Hershel Hendrix, Jr. of Blackshear; daughter and son-in-law, Heather Hendrix and Gene White of Eatonton, GA; 2 grandchildren, Brandon White (wife Abby) of Statham, GA and Madi Smith (husband Kody) of Athens, GA; 2 great grandchildren, Levi White and Lily Smith; 2 sisters, JoAnn McQuaig and Pansy Cox (Leland), both of Waycross; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dot and Donald Trull of Blackshear and Franklin and Pam Hendrix of Dry Branch, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Friday (4/19/24) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Kettle Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the service.
