Mr. Jerald Emerald “Big Shot” Varnadore, age 72, of Waycross, passed away Monday evening (8/2/21) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.
Born April 4, 1949 in Waycross, he was a son of the late Emerald Percy and Ruby Estelle Brown Varnadore. He grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida and had served in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. He had also lived in Augusta, GA and Ashville, North Carolina before returning home to Waycross in the early 1980’s. He had been a self-employed contractor with V & H Builders for several years before becoming the owner and operator of Reformed Products in Waycross.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Varnadore; 3 sisters, Joyce Friderich, Azalee Calhoun, and Teresa Varnadore; and 2 brothers, Leon Varnadore and Billy Varnadore.
Survivors include his 5 children, Michael White (wife Rhonda) of Waycross, Jason Varnadore (wife Colleen) of Montesano, Washington, Kimberly Sharpe (husband Larry) of Blackshear, Jacob Varnadore (wife Jacki) of Blackshear, and Sara Sapp of Waycross; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and another expected soon; his special friend, Sybil Boatright of Blackshear; 2 sisters, Loretta Mercer (husband Rev. Jerry) of Waycross and Francis Blanchette (husband Grady) of Blackshear; a brother, Clint Varnadore (wife Mary) of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Sunday afternoon (8/15/21) at 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God in Waycross.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening (8/14/21) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
