John Rodney Kersey

Mr. John R. (JR) Kersey, age 66, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday afternoon (1/23/19) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.

Born April 19, 1952 in Jesup, GA, he was a son of the late Jessie Williard and Ruby Turner Kersey. He lived in Pierce County for many years where he was a farmhand for Jack and Molly Strickland in Bristol.  He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his family, Wilma Hale, Marie, Gordon, and Zack Peterson, and Marvin Crews, all of Blackshear; his beloved dog, Shorty; special friends, Jack and Molly Strickland of Bristol; and a special friend who was his favorite CNA, Krystal Monroe of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside funeral service took place on Saturday morning (1/26/19) at 10 AM at Shady Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Edmund Thrift officiating.

The family received friends at the cemetery for 30 minutes prior to the service.
