John (J.H.) Harley Cason, Sr.

Mr. John Harley “J.H.” Cason, Sr., age 79, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning (7/29/2025) at Harborview Pierce County following an extended illness.

Born June 6, 1946, in Patterson, he was a son of the late John Randall and Edna Boyett Cason. Living all his life in Pierce County, he was a 1966 graduate of Patterson High School and worked as a mechanic during his younger years for Waters Ford before working as a carpenter for JP Barnard Construction Company. 

He was also a longtime farmer and enjoyed growing and tending to his vegetable garden each year. 

He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Davis; and 2 brothers, Ronnie Cason and Raymond Cason.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margaret “Margie” Tippins Cason of Blackshear; 2 sons, Harley Cason (wife Rebecca) of Patterson and Patrick Cason (wife Heather) of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, Blaine (Maisy) Cason, Cruz Cason, Zayne Cason, Brayden Cason, Everlee Cason, and Braely Luke; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Offerman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
