Mrs. Jonette Johnson Taylor, age 86, of Blackshear, passed away Friday morning (12/12/25) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following a short illness.
Born April 4, 1939, in Patterson, she was a daughter of the late George and Bertha Mae Manning Johnson. She lived most of her life in Pierce County but had lived in Jacksonville, Florida and DeLand, Florida for several years. She was a longtime, faithful housewife and enjoyed raising her children and being a devoted granny, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
She was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Marian Johnson Dixon, Bertie Johnson Dixon, and Nancy Lee Johnson Brantley.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Winton Taylor of Blackshear; 3 children, Gary Taylor (wife Phyllis) of Waycross, Dennis Taylor of Blackshear, and Susan Hodges of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, Amy Knowlton (husband Trevor) of Brunswick, Darby Greene of Blackshear, Jamie Hodges (wife Erika) of Patterson, Dustin Taylor (wife Sam) of Waycross, Derek Taylor (wife Hailey) of Blackshear, and Clay Taylor (wife Anna) of Blackshear; 14 great grandchildren, Kenzley Dykes (husband Cole), Rhett Peeples (wife Allie), Kneley Crews (husband Andy), Andrea Peeples, Alyssa Knowlton, Austin Hodges (wife Merril), Jana Peeples, Beck Hodges, Eliza Taylor, Emilia Taylor, Dawson Taylor, Eva Cate Taylor, Chloe Taylor, and Cooper Taylor; 8 great-great grandchildren, Ryder Dykes, Cash Dykes, Colee Jane Dykes, Harper Hodges, Branch Crews, Kennedi Crews, Drake Roberson, and Barrett Peeples; her siblings, Carolyn Anderson, Shirley (Phil) Douglas, Barbara (Ted) Clark, Terry (Cheryl) Johnson, and Eddie (JoAnn) Courson; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Monday afternoon (12/15/25) at 2 p.m. at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Thrift officiating. Burial will follow in Waters Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 12:30-2 p.m.
