Joseph Jerome Owens

Mr. Joseph Jerome Owens, age 52, of Blackshear, passed away early Sunday morning (5/14/2023) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born February 4, 1971, in Blackshear, he was a son of the late Vilos Jasper and Eldrie Altman Owens. He lived all his life in Pierce County and was a retired machine operator. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Owens.

Survivors include his 8 sisters, Carolyn Durrence of Sanford, N.C., Peggy Smith of Aiken, S.C., Sandra Strickland of Blackshear, Elaine Parshal of Brunswick, Genice Pace of Charlotte, N.C., Sarah Taylor (husband Robbie) of Offerman, Mary Vela of Blackshear, and Marie Davis of Charlotte, N.C.; 1 brother, Johnny Owens (wife Teresa) of Homeland, GA; sister-in-law, Doris Owens of Blackshear; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will take place on Friday (5/26/23) at 11 a.m. at Hacklebarney Baptist Church.
