Mr. Joseph Washington “J.W.” Hall, age 88, of Waycross passed away Monday morning (3/21/22) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born March 30, 1933 in Danville, Virginia, he was a son of the late Dewey A. and Eugenia Maude Waller Hall. He grew up in Virginia and then worked as a linotype operator in Buena Vista, Virginia before moving to Savannah. He lived in Savannah for almost 45 years and was retired as a Petroleum Terminal Operator. He moved to Waycross to be near family in March 2021.
He was a member of Crossroad Baptist Church in Savannah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Hattie Virginia Bell Hall; sister and brother-in-law, June and Dr. Danny Clark; brother, Gilmer Hall; sister-in-law, Marjorie Bell Aherron; and brother-in-law, Lester Lowell Bell.
Survivors include his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Susie Bell and Edmond Jacobs of Hoboken, J.J. Bell of Hoboken, Jim Aherron of Chester, VA, and Babs Hall of Danville, Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Wednesday morning (3/23/22) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Elder Jason Deal officiating. Burial will follow in the High Bluff Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning one hour prior to the service.
