Mr. Larry Mitchel Simmons, age 70, of Alma, passed away suddenly early Thursday afternoon (12/8/22) at the Bacon County Hospital.
Born January 22, 1952, in Alma, Georgia, he was a son of Mrs. Annie Merle McCorquedale Simmons and the late Nashone Milton Simmons. He lived all his life in Bacon County and was a 1970 graduate of Bacon County High School. He was retired as a police officer with the Alma Police Department and was a member of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Avery and Viola McCorquedale.
Survivors include his daughter, Ciara Simmons Lee (husband Joey) of Patterson; grandson, Ramsey Lee of Patterson; step-daughter, Brandy Gill (husband Robbie) of Blackshear; 2 step grandchildren, Hunter Gill (wife Savannah) and Cole Gill, both of Blackshear; mother, Annie Merle Simmons of Alma; former wife and mother of his children, Patty Ivey of Waycross; 2 sisters, Sharon Moore of Alma and Brenda Moore (husband Glynn) of Bickley; 2 brothers, Freddie Simmons (wife Christy) and Martin Simmons (wife Linda), both of Alma; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will take place on Monday (12/12/22) at 11 a.m. at Patterson Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
