Laura Wyly Obituary

Mrs. Laura Marie Hahl Wyly, age 57, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday afternoon (9/26/20) at the Bacon County Hospital following a short illness.

Born October 24, 1962 in Lindenhurst, New York, she was the only daughter of the late Charles and Doris Hahl.  She graduated from Kathleen Senior High School in 1980 and studied Elementary Education at Polk Community College. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern College in 1984 in early childhood education.  She lived many years in Brandon, Florida where she worked with the Hillsborough Clerk of Court. In 2007, she moved to Pierce County.

Laura served at Emmanuel for many years and in many capacities. She began as the church receptionist, then became assistant to the minister of music, and was currently the assistant to the minister of education.

She was a motivated self-starter who needed little supervision. If she saw a task that needed to be performed, she simply did it without consideration to whether it was someone else’s job. She was a model employee, a gracious Christian lady, and the epitome of a servant.

She was a loving, devoted wife; a proud, supportive mom and mother-in-law; and will be greatly missed by her family and also at Emmanuel Baptist Church as a member, worker, employee, and friend.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Kenneth Wyly of Blackshear; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ashley Wyly of Blackshear; 2 brothers, Doug Hahl and Glenn Hahl, both of Florida; her father and mother-in-law, Joe and Iris Wyly of Blackshear; a brother-in-law, Jody Wyly (wife Terrie) of Plant City, Florida; her niece and nephews, Justin Hahl of Florida, Eric Wyly of Hawaii, and Jason Wyly, Brandi Wyly, and Lane Wyly, all of Plant City, Florida; and many other friends and relatives.

A memorial service will take place Thursday evening (10/1/20) at 5 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Stone and Rev. Richard Golden officiating.

Social distancing and facemasks are highly encouraged for this service. Hand sanitizing stations will also be available. The service can also be viewed live at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Facebook page.
