Mrs. Lillian Ether Johnson, age 94, of Blackshear, passed away late Saturday night (6/5/21) at Harborview Pierce following an extended illness.
Born April 11, 1927 in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Johnson Sr. and Thelma Smith Johnson. A lifelong resident of Pierce County, she had worked at Morel Pharmacy for a few years but was retired from Swisher International, Inc. She had also worked at the Pierce County Senior Center for several years.
She was a longtime member of Ward United Methodist Church, joining in 1938.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Johnson; all of her siblings, Nell Carter, Marjorie Carter, Rose Johnson, Thomas “Buster” Johnson, Jr., and Robert Johnson; nieces and nephews, John Paul and Libby Jones, Gene Carter, and Mike Carter and Tom Raulerson; and a great nephew, Bob Jones.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Norma Johnson of Nahunta; her nieces and nephews and their families, Evelyn Denison of Patterson, Delorise Music of Brunswick, Annette Raulerson of Bristol, Betty Thornton (husband Andy) of Blackshear, Don Carter (wife Vicki) of Bristol, Diane Carter of Bristol, Patricia Aldridge of Gloucester, VA, Diane West (husband John) of Richmond, VA, Tammy Thomas (husband Jeff) of Nahunta, and Adrian Johnson of Callahan, FL; a special cousin who was like her daughter, Gertrude Blake of Athens; special friends, Marie Durrance and Wayne and Linda Smith, all of Blackshear; and several other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
