Lillian Kathleen Walker Lee, age 90, of Patterson, passed away Wednesday evening (7/14/21) at Memorial Hospital in Savannah following an extended illness.
Born May 25, 1931 in Patterson, she was a daughter of the late Isaiah and Macie Highsmith Walker. She lived all of her life in Pierce County and was a 1949 graduate of Patterson High School. She worked many years at the Oxford Industries in Alma and at Julie Hat Company in Patterson, but was also a devoted housewife.
She was an active member of Patterson Baptist Church and attended the Hope Sunday School Class.
She will be remembered as a selfless, hardworking, “tell you like it is” type of person who took care of everyone around her. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking (fixing the best dumplings you could eat).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivey M. Lee; and her siblings, J.D. Walker, A.J. Walker, Nola Walker Thompson, and Mattie Walker Standfield.
Survivors include her two daughters, Melba Deen (husband Evan) of Mershon and Debra Sue Smith (husband David) of Patterson; 5 granddaughters, Anna Norris (husband Donnie) of Patterson, Ivy Mock (husband Chris) of Patterson, Ellen Thornton (husband Josh) of Mershon, Susan Deen of Mershon, and Lee Ann Harrison (husband Garrett) of Hazlehurst; 11 great grandchildren, Coleman Lee, Mary Grace Norris, Riggs Mock, Adeline Mock, Lilli Thornton, Lee Thornton, Evan Deen, Cal Harrison, Sadie Kate Harrison, Elsie Lee Harrison, and Lane Harrison; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Sunday afternoon (7/18/21) at 3 p.m. at Patterson Baptist Church with Rev. Rozzie James officiating. Burial will follow in the Strickland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening (7/17/21) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chip Griner, Scott Sapp, Brett Sapp, Kevin Walker, Donnie Norris, Josh Thornton, Chris Mock, and Garrett Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be the Patterson Baptist Church Hope Sunday School Class. Please be at the church by 2:45 p.m. on Sunday.
