Mrs. Louise Hendricks Thrift, age 82, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday afternoon (8/1/2026) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born September 30, 1943, in Brunswick, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Adam S. and Cora Bell Hiott Hendricks. She grew up in Waycross but lived most of her life in Pierce County where she was a faithful housewife, mother, and grandmother working alongside her family while farming.
She was a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, attended the Adult Sunday School Class, and was a devout Christian who was her family’s prayer warrior.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Edward Thrift, Sr.; 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Nora Lee Raulerson (Dan), Earlene Anderson, and Mae Corbitt (Barney); 4 brothers, Charles Hendricks, Eddie Hendricks, Adam Hendricks, and Jackie Hendricks; and a brother-in-law, Dale Carter.
Survivors include her children, Jimmy Thrift (wife Ida), Carlos Thrift (wife Lisa), Tony Thrift (wife Sandra), Tammy Jones (husband Andy), Mike Thrift (wife Karen), and Tina Taylor (husband Jamie), all of Blackshear; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Jacklyn Carter of Gardi, 1 brother, Earl Bradham (wife Brenda) of Darien; a brother-in-law, Anthony Anderson of Savannah; 3 sisters-in-law, Nancy Hendricks of Waycross, Polly Hendricks of Jesup, Penny Hendricks of Brunswick; special friends, The Waters Family; lifelong friend who was like a sister, Peggy Crosby of Tennessee; her Sunday School class who she dearly loved; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place on Monday morning (8/3/26) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. A private burial will follow in the Ramah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning one hour prior to the service.
