Mrs. Margaret Jean McHan Tippins, age 85, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday night (5/19/20) at Harborview Pierce County following an extended illness.
Born June 30, 1934 in Chatsworth, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Bascum Grady and Ada Beatrice Cordell McHan. She had lived most of her life in Pierce County and had worked at the Spatola Shoe Factory, Julie Hat Company, and Baptist Village in Waycross as a CNA. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest D. Tippins; a son, Earnest D. Tippins, Jr.; and two brothers, B. L. McHan and Willard McHan.
Survivors include 4 children, Margie Cason (husband J.H.) of Blackshear, Ann Clark (husband Randy) of Pigeon Forge, Marie Whitley of Blackshear, and Lamar Tippins (wife Shirley) of Patterson; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Betty McHan of Blackshear; a brother, Billy McHan (wife Dot) of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside funeral service will take place Friday morning (5/22/20) at 10 a.m. at Shiloh Cemetery.
