Mrs. Martha Elouise Harris Griffin, age 93, of Alma, passed away early Monday morning (3/1/21) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born November 10, 1927 in Patterson, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Banner and Susie Thornton Harris. She lived all of her life in Pierce County and was a housewife and mother. She attended Beulah Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Griffin; a daughter, Rose Griffin Johnson; a son-in-law, Henry McAleer, IV; and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include 8 children, Sula Fiske of Alma, Mildred McAleer of Ellabell, GA, Willene Heitz (husband George) of Blackshear, Mack Griffin (wife Terry) of Alma, Lewis Griffin of Blackshear, Pauline Roppe (husband Tommy) of Alma, Jim Griffin of Alma, and Ben Griffin (wife Scarlett) of Nichols; 17 grandchildren, Jeffery Lovell (wife Lisa), Mikel Lovell (wife Sandra), Sherry Chaney (husband John), Theresa Walker, Mark McAleer (wife Emily), Christie E. Haynes (husband John), Kimberly Ann Gonzalez (husband Carlos), Brian Griffin (wife Susan), Tracy Carmack (husband Michael), Stacy Griffin, Brandy Jewell (husband Levi), Steven Roppe, Amy Roppe, Heidi Johnson, Jodi Johnson, Ray Turner, and Jessica Herrin; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside funeral service will take place Thursday (3/4/21) at 3 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Matt Tuttle officiating.
The family will receive friends in the Beulah Baptist Church sanctuary for 30 minutes prior to the service.
