Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rowell Manning, age 62, of Patterson, passed away Friday morning (8/19/22) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.
Born January 30, 1960, in Waycross, she was a daughter of the late Robert “Rob” and Bessie Smith Rowell. She grew up in Waycross and moved to Pierce County around 1980. She had worked at Lollipop for several years and attended Walkerville Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Joseph Braxton Manning; and three brothers, Jerry Rowell, Jim Rowell, and Johnny Rowell.
Survivors include 3 children, Melissa Manning Matthews (husband Joseph) of Woodstock, GA, Nicholas Manning of Mershon, and Ryan Manning of Waycross; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Nobles (husband Spence) and Madison Manning, both of Alma, Gavin Manning of Patterson, Joseph Ryan “Jo Jo” Manning, Jr. of Waycross, Brittany Manning and Preston Manning, both of Newport, TN, and Laiklee Manning of Douglas; a great granddaughter expected shortly; 2 sisters, Jeanette McCarthy (husband Atley) and Rita Calvo, both of Waycross; a brother, Alan Rowell of Bickley; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place on Monday (8/22/22) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Walkerville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday one hour prior to the service.
